Formal

When we think of formal wear we envision black tie.  When you are requested to wear black tie,  you must bring out your best gown!  You can go with the signature long sleeve gown or think short sleeve and/or sleeveless floor length gowns.  Details matter in this instance, think beading, whimsical hemlines, prints, and pleats.  To spice things up a bit, go with a hi-lo design and don’t forget your clutch and jewelry to complete the look!  With springtime weather being not too hot, not too cold, you’ll be able to control your comfortability by choosing short sleeve or sleeveless.  For those who are quick to get chilly, be sure to carry a shawl, just in case. It also allows for maximum flexibility as you attend the ceremony and progress to the reception activities thereafter.  Out of all the attire categories, formal is thee one you have to get right!  It’s the one couples pray all people in attendance execute to perfection.

Semi-Formal

Guests should rejoice when they see the words semi-formal listed on a wedding invite.  Even a sigh of relief because this category has less pressure when it comes to your wardrobe picks.  Yes, you still have to dress up however not as fancy as black tie but not casual either.  This category can be less expensive and offers up a wider selection of options to choose from.  For this category of attire, think dress, skirt or even a jumpsuit.  The options in this instance are endless!  Pair a nice blouse with a pleated skirt or try an off the shoulder jumpsuit.   Try a vibrant colored maxi dress or a patterned cocktail dress.  With this category you still want to pull all stops with your outfit of choice but with a little less glam factor.            

Casual

Invited to a casual wedding?  Before you think it, let us say this does not mean you can wear whatever you want!  No, jeans are not acceptable by any means!  A casual dress code means still put your best foot forward yet you can tone down all the bells and whistles.  To achieve this look, think sundress with a classic ballet flat or a nice top paired with pants.  Try a stylish skirt paired with a light sweater or blazer.  Casual weddings are much more comfortable in terms of the many options you can choose from.  For this reason, you must be careful not to treat everything as acceptable and think more business casual.
